Hot Buttered Rum


Makes 1

1 1/2 oz. dark rum

1/2 oz. orange juice

orange zest

2 tablespoons butter

2 tablespoons brown sugar

pinch of ground cinnamon

pinch of nutmeg

pinch of ginger

cinnamon stick for garnish

  1. To start we need to make spiced butter. In a bowl combine brown sugar, butter, and spices and mix until light and fluffy.

  2. Put about 2 tablespoons of the spiced butter into a glass.

  3. Pour rum and 6 ounces of boiling water into the glass. Stir very well to break down and combine the butter.

  4. Now top with orange juice and orange zest.

  5. Garnish with a cinnamon stick.
