Hot Spicy Orange Punch

Makes 8

1 orange

16 oz. vodka

4 whole cloves

3 cup apple juice

half of cinnamon stick

pinch of nutmeg

2 tablespoons honey

1 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice

1 cup pineapple juice

cinnamon stick for garnish

1-2 cloves for garnish

  1. Start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees F. Stud an orange with the cloves by puncturing 4 holes in the orange with a toothpick and placing a clove in each hole. Bake in the oven for 30 minutes.

  2. In a saucepan combine apple juice and half of a cinnamon stick. Bring to a boil and then reduce to medium heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and then stir in your vodka, nutmeg, honey, lemon juice, and pineapple juice.

  3. Pour the mixture into a pitcher with the clove-studded baked orange. Serve hot and optionally garnish each glass with a cinnamon stick, 1-2 cloves, and a star anise.
