Mulled Wine
Ingredients:
Makes 6
1 750ml bottle dry red wine
1/4 cup brandy
1 orange cut in wedges
8 whole cloves
2 cinnamon sticks
2 star anise
4 tablespoons sugar
cinnamon stick for garnish
orange slice for garnish
star anise for garnish
Preparation
In a saucepan combine wine, brandy, orange wedges, cloves, cinnamon sticks, star anise, and sugar. Stir to combine. Cook on medium heat, right before it boils turn it down to a low heat. Now let the wine simmer for at least 20 minutes but up to 3 hours.
Strain the wine into a glass and add more sugar to taste if needed.
Garnish with a cinnamon stick, an orange slice, and a star anise.
